Bible Study: Forgiveness

Tonight was Justin and I's first night at our church's (EFC) "Life Group" Bible study. They do it every Wednesday night at a really awesome couple's home. Needless to say...we LOVED it! Especially Justin. He loves to talk, so a small intimate group of people, sitting around in a living room, talking about Jesus seems like a GREAT place for him to do his talking! Nothing makes me happier than seeing my family happy, and especially HAPPY FOR THE LORD!

can I get an AMEN!?

Now to the title of this post -

verb (used with object)
to grant pardon for or remission of (an offense, debt, etc.); absolve.
to give up all claim on account of; remit (a debt, obligation, etc.).
to grant pardon to (a person).
to cease to feel resentment against: to forgive one's enemies.
to cancel an indebtedness or liability of: to forgive the interest owed on a loan.
What does it mean?
  • Does it mean forgive someone for thier wrongs towards you? Your family? Your loved ones?
  • Does it mean love others as Jesus loves us, and see them as he sees them?
  • Does it mean to love those who hurt us, even though it goes against every human emotion we feel?
  • Does it mean forgive people for their past?
Well, it means all of these things, at least in my opinion. Jesus shed His blood upon the cross so that WE could be forgiven of our sins. Who are we to look upon our fellow man and judge him for his sins, when a sin is a sin. We are to love one another as He loves us. People aren't perfect, and we aren't expected to be...we are only expected to try our hardest everyday to live our life for the Lord. To be forgiven for our past, it only seems right to forgive others of thiers.

Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you (attitude: forgive because you love the Lord)
Ephesians 4:31-32 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.(attitude: loving and forgiving just like God forgave you)

A song that speaks volumes to me is "Forgiveness" by Matthew West. It's words emcompass all that is forgiveness. All that it takes, and how we, as humans with worldly emotions, feel about it.
It's the hardest thing to give away
And the last thing on your mind today
It always goes to those that don't deserve

It's the opposite of how you feel
When the pain they caused is just to real
It takes everything you have just to say the word...
And then once you do forgive, the way it can make you feel!
It'll clear the bitterness away
It can even set a prisoner free
There is no end to what it's power can do

So, let it go and be amazed
By what you see through eyes of grace
The prisoner that it really frees is you.
Forgiveness, or the power to forgive really, doesn't come easy. It is something you have to work on EVERYDAY, but it is something i'm willing to work on, to be more like my Father. Made in his image, right? So why not try to walk in His path everyday.
God Bless ♥

Capture the pie: Davis style!

So most families have traditions on Thanksgiving. Some get around in a circle and say what they're thankful for. Some play a friendly game of touch football in the front yard. (Phat Boyz 2012!) Some eat and eat and eat, then sit around the living room scouting out the deals they HAVE TO HAVE out of the black Friday ads.

OK, my family does everyone of these things, every year, but the main point of this post is our newest tradition.

Capture the Pie.

My Meemaw's peanut butter pie, to be exact. It is like heaven in a crust. Smooth, silky, creamy JOY!

Object of the "game" is to end up with the pie, in your vehicle, at the end of the day. First person to hide it has to hide it well BECAUSE whoever finds it can eat what they want out of it, then re-hide the pie. So on and so forth, until either you (or someone else) go home with your pie, or it is completely consumed by ravage cavemen (the rival partakers of said game.)

Yesterday we started with 4 pies. My brother, Kendall, our cousin, Ty and myself had an "alliance" going for our pie (that was never found by anyone else, by the way! We took home the entire thing!) My uncle and I went back and forth with his though, and by the end of it, I think he left with one piece. HA. A couple others were pilfered , however, I have no idea who the victors of those pies are. After eating till' we literally couldn't sit straight, the kiddos played in the leaves. I do have some pictures of Kelci and Kamree, SO enjoy!

My ink, My life

I've had the "ink bug" for a few months now, but I can't decide which of my prospective artworks to get. This got me thinking of my current ink, and the stories behind each one. Some people don't like them, fine by me, just don't judge mine, my body, my choice. Not many people even know I have a tattoo, let alone 4. Each one of them means something, something unique. I'll start with the first one I ever got...on my 18th birthday, with my mom. ♥
and my mom's...
Then my 2nd and 3rd, done about 3 months apart. I got these during a "phase", but i don't regret them one bit. I know they are common, and everybody and thier dog has them, but I don't care. I looked all over my hard drive but i apparently only took pictures of the first one, SO just to fill you in, there is an identical star on the opposite hip.
And last but not least, my FAVORITE one of all. My tattoo for Kamree. I had this originally designed for me, hand written by my artist, John from Happy Dragon in Abilene, TX. NO ONE else in the world has this exact tattoo. This is Kamree's foot print from the day she was born.

The next one will be a memorial for Nicholas Haden Lee Walker. I drew it up myself, which was difficult for me to do. Haven't decided on placement just yet, but IT WILL happen.
Happy Inking!

Oh you fancy, huh?

SO I have been begging Justin for a new bridal set for Christmas/my birthday. Don't get me wrong, I love the one I have, I just want one that I picked out. You ladies get where I'm coming from...right?

Any who, I went with a friend to a few jewelry stores last night to kind of get a for sure idea of what I wanted. She was "window shopping" for herself. ha. Well, at Kay Jewelers, I found the perfect ring. Princess cut, white gold, and not going to cost my husband his spare kidney. IT IS PERFECT.

So to guarantee my husband gets the right one, I brought home the catalog, with the perfect ring circled, the manager's business card, a picture mail sent straight to his phone, and the link to the site. I'm covering all bases. =)

Everyone keep your fingers crossed that "mama get's what mama wants!"

I'll keep you posted =)

Vegas, baby ♥

So I know it's been FOREVER since I last posted anything (been super busy) but here I am.

You're welcome.

So, Justin and I left November 2nd for Las Vegas, NV with a group of friends. There were 6 of us (including me) all driving up there in a hauler...for 18 hours. Talk about getting close to your buds. Well, we had a BLAST!

But you know what they say...what happens in Vegas....STAYS in Vegas. ha.

But I will bless you with some pictures!

powderpuff football game...

So tonight the Sweetwater High School held it's annual Powderpuff football game in the bowl. This happens every year on our bi week. I remember when our class beat the seniors our junior year. That year got rough...if I remember correctly they called it in the third quarter due to injuries and "tackling" instead of flag grabbing. We had a girl come away with a broken ankle, a concusion or two, plus numerous bumps, bruises and scratches. My brother is a Junior this year and was a cheerleader. HA. Our girls played really well, and came away with a "W". Score: 6-0. There were a lot of flags for "personal foul" ie: a VERY obvious FACE PALM by the seniors. I'm surprised that one didn't end in an all out brawl on the 50. SO, here are some pictures from the night...feel free to laugh your tush off!

The "cheerleaders" in what seems to be
 a make shift pyramid attempt.

The players! ( Thanks to Allison W. for this picture!)
The whole crew after the WIN!
The boys: Ty Davis (cousin), Trey Harvey (friend) and my brother, Kendall Rea. Such lookers!!!

Elephants, tigers and toddlers...OH MY!

OK, so I have to admit, for Sweetwater, TX that circus was PRETTY good! I really liked to acrobat ladies. Hanging from the ceiling like it's no biggie! If I ever got the (uh-hum) to try that, i'd die. Heck, I got nauseated riding the elephant. YES I rode a full grown elephant. Now, I can not wait till' Vegas when I get to see Cirque De Solis!!!!!! So, I promised pictures from tonight's festivities so here they are!!!

Courtney, Kamree and mommy havin' fun in the bleachers!!!!
Kelci and Bubby after getting their faces painted!

Miss diva Kelci showing off her butterfly face!!
These girls were awesome!

These two are hanging by their necks. um ouch?

The bottom girl is suspended by a rope, connected to both of their necks. AND she is spinning super fast. wow.

Our past week re-cap!

Friday Sept 28th - drove all the way to Brownwood just to sit in the POURING rain and watch football. I love watching my boys, however, I DO NOT get enthusiastic about sitting in soggy jeans, a wet shirt, and under a "too-big" umbrella that I apparently can't navigate. I literally took out 4 or 5 people, including my little brother's girlfriend! Sorry Megan!

2012-09-29 14.59.44.jpgSaturday Sept 29th - Justin's twin sister's turned 18, and also had a volleyball game at 2pm here in Sweetwater. We went to the high school gym, watched them during the first 3 games, but then had to leave. Turns out, they lost after we left...guess I am a good luck charm ha. Kamree caught Kendra's (KK) decorated ball, and hasn't put it down since.

2012-09-29 20.10.41.jpgAfter the game, my lovely husband and I went to Abilene for dinner with the twins, Kendra and Kelsi, their little brother Blaine, and their dad, Cutter Crosson for the girls birthday. Texas Roadhouse, yes it was delish, thanks for asking

Afterwards, Justin and I went to Century 12 to watch "The Campaign". It was quite funny, but not as funny of some of Will's other movies. We practically had the whole theater to ourselves. NO, we didn't do anything like all you other hoodlums might have!!!

Tonight we are going to the circus! Courtney, my mom, Kamree, Justin, Codi, Dave, their little girls Ali and Kelci, Daniel, Wendy, Ty, Devyn, and myself! (and to think that's not even a quarter of my family). Hopefully the kids enjoy it. We have come to the realization that my child will either LOVE it or HATE it. Let's hope she loves it. ha. I will for sure post after tonight's events...with pictures!!!

Well, I will leave you with some pictures from the past few months. Enjoy! =]

Kamree cheesin' it up! Love this smile more than life itself!!!

I found these pictures on my great-grandmother's fridge Sunday. Good golly, I was a goofy looking kid! From my 5th grade basketball pic, to the all famous "Jump Rope Team" picture that more resembles an elderly little man, than an 11 year old little girl...I can easily say that haircut was one of the WORST decisions of my life. ha.

It can always get worse...

So I posted yesterday about not letting this "crap" i've come down with riun my day...well I didn't. We went out to eat at Abuelo's. (Yumm!) Afterwards, we came back home for some "cuddle" time.

Got up this morning for work and what do ya know? I FELT WORSE. Got to work, coughed up a lung, scared (i'm sure) every patient who walked through my hallway, and then was convinced I MIGHT die at work. Well Kendra convinced me to go see Dr. Mc and let him look at me...well long story short he sent me home on antibiotics to get rid of whatever this is. Chest X-ray showed no pneumonia (thank GOD) but I do have a lot of chest congestion. SO I left work, went straight to the pharmacy then home. I tried my hardest to take a nap, but to no avail so I watched all my "the Voice" episodes to catch me up for tonight's episode. I absolutely LOVE that show.

Well, I think i'm going to close this one out with a few of my favorite pics from the past few weekends! Here ya go!

Me and the little brother at his game in Breckenridge! ♥ him!

Of course I DO!

Of course I DO...feel like hammered dog poo on my anniversary. Seems like every holiday or even any special day, I am either exhausted and tired or i'm sick and miserable. WELL i'll have you know, I will not let this cough/body aches/sputum (ha) ruin my anniversary. It's the big 1 year, the most important one. (well besides 50th, but that's so important because most don't live to see it). Went to bed last night with a sore throat, and woke up today with burning lungs and coughing up some stuff I will not go into detail on, because i'd like to spare POINT IS, I feel horrible, and am stuck at work, but when my hubby gets home today, fever or not, I WILL make him an anniversary dinner complete with a movie and some snuggle time on the couch - giving that he gets close to me with this apparent fire breathing coming from my burning lungs. - Oh well, at least i'm here. At least i'm alive to see today. At least i'm not divorced by the one year mark like so many my age are. Ok, now to eat my luke warm turkey pot pie and head back to work. I'll check in later...if you're lucky.

Laters baby!

A little "catcher-upper"

This weekend was a...SUCESS! Even though I am exhausted, mentally and physically, I had a blast this weekend at the Walker-Claxton Memorial Rodeo here in Sweetwater. A big thanks goes out to ALL the sponsors, stock contractors, barrel racers, bull riders, and volunteers, ESPECIALLY the McBee family from Odessa, TX and my mom, Deni Rea from Sweetwater, TX. They pretty much put this whole thing together and worked their BUTTS off to make this thing happen!

Justin traveled to Eunice, NM to race the Kelly Sheen Memorial race down there. He qualified for the big A Friday night, starting 2nd row outside. Had a great car during the big show, but of course our luck kicked in and the distributor broke, and he had to pull off the track with a DNF (did not finish). BOO!

I know it's been forever and a day since I last blogged so i'll fill ya in on what's changed.
1. I started a new job at the clinic here in Sweetwater, RPRHC. LOVE the hours, coworkers, and not to mention having every weekend off!
2. Kamree is gettign HUGE!
3. In April(see April 26th entry) my "adopted" brother passed away in a freak well accident. He was only 19. It has hit this family like a ton of bricks, but with our faith in God, and knowledge that we WILL see our boy again, we've made it through this tragedy. Not a day goes by that any of us don't think of him, and that gorgeous, crooked smile. ♥

Coming up October 18th-20th is the Southern Challenge Ryan Bard Memorial race at Abilene Speedway. To say the least, I am STOKED. I love weekend races with my hubby! Believe me, you will get PLENTY of blog updates this weekend!

Oh, we are also going to VEGAS November 2nd. CAN'T wait! Never been to Vegas, so i'm a little nervous to say the least. I'll update on our plans closer to time!

Kamree is a year and 5 months old on the 28th of this month (September) and I can't believe how much she's grown. She's talking, walking, potty trained, and definitely developing an attitude that reminds me all too much of a younger version of myself. [mommy is a little scared that saying is will pay for your raising]. I can have full blown conversations with her, which blows my mind. I'm not ready for her to grow up, but then again, what parent is?
I still remember the day we brought her home. A perfect little bundle of love. The day my heart began residing outside my body. ♥

On another note, our 1 year anniversary is tomorrow. Can NOT believe it's been a year since I married this man. We have had our share of ups and downs, but I wouldn't have them with anyone else. Forever and ever, I DO.
For richer for poorer...
Through sickness and health...

Till' death do us part.
I love you!
